From Trail to TerraWatt.
Craig Prudhon was born and raised in Trail, a small town in British Columbia. A pipefitter by trade and a classic-car enthusiast, he brings a hands-on background to the way he thinks about buildings, equipment and the systems people rely on every day.
Alongside his trade background, Craig owns rental property and works in property management in the United States. That experience gives TerraWatt’s story a practical starting point. A property is more than an address: it is an ongoing collection of operating costs, maintenance decisions and improvements that need to make sense for the people paying for them.
Affordability was part of the reason.
When Craig founded TerraWatt Contracting in 2021, part of the motivation was to make power more affordable for homeowners. Renewable energy offered a direction worth exploring, but the goal was never just to put new equipment on a building. The point was to look at how energy is used, what an owner needs and whether a proposed improvement has a useful place in the property’s future.
That is the connection between TerraWatt’s three areas of focus: solar power, EV charging and lighting. Solar changes how a property may generate electricity. Charging connects the building to the way its occupants travel. Lighting affects how spaces are used every day. Each project starts with different questions, but all three belong in a wider conversation about the property.
A practical approach to change.
Craig’s interest in classic cars sits comfortably alongside an interest in newer energy technology. Both invite a closer look at how things work and how separate parts fit together. At TerraWatt, that becomes a straightforward approach: understand the existing setup, ask useful questions and make the next step clear.
The business is built around helping owners explore improvements without losing sight of cost, suitability and day-to-day use. Affordability is a goal, not a blanket savings promise. The value of a project depends on the property, the equipment, installation requirements, electricity pricing and the way the system is used.
TerraWatt’s direction is simple: bring renewable-energy ideas down to the scale of a real home, a real building and a decision an owner can understand.
